[Interview with Rita Liao of techCrunch] Be greedy when others are fearful - Hong Kong is playing catch-up, an interview with Rita Liao, Asia Reporter, TechCrunch.
Blockchain & Crypto Asia #32
Hi, Coco again. In this issue, I feature an interview with Rita Liao, Asia Reporter, TechCrunch.
Originally from Shenzhen, China, Rita graduated from Bowdoin College in 2015. Fresh out of school in New England, hopeful and ambitious, she decided to go back to China, a land of promise in the eyes of oversea returnees (dubbed as “sea turtles”) between 2014 - 2018.
She came to New York to say goodbye and told me about her passion for making documentaries in China. We lost touch for a while.
I reconnected with her recently and decided to invite her for an interview.
From doing public relations for an American tech accelerator SOSV in China to being a technology reporter, she has witnessed the peak and trough of China’s tech scene, the impact of the government’s increasing oversight on innovation, shifting sentiment amongst entrepreneurs, and an accelerating divergence between the U.S. and China.
We also touched on Hong Kong’s new policies toward retail cryptocurrency trading.
